Top Social Networking Apps on iOS in Oceania: Q2 2022 Performance

During the second quarter of 2022, the top five social networking apps on iOS in Oceania showcased varied trends in downloads, revenue, and active users. Here's a closer look at the performance of each app based on Sensor Tower data.

BeReal: Photos & Friends Daily experienced significant growth in both downloads and active users. Weekly downloads started at around 28K at the end of March and surged to nearly 80K by the end of June. Active users mirrored this trend, rising from 32K to approximately 376K over the same period.

WhatsApp Messenger maintained a steady performance in terms of downloads and active users. Weekly downloads fluctuated between 23K and 55K, while active users remained relatively stable, hovering around 3.3M throughout the quarter. Revenue was negligible, with only a small amount recorded at the end of March.

Facebook saw consistent revenue and active user numbers, though there was a slight decline in downloads. Weekly revenue ranged from $24K to $40K, while active users remained strong at around 16M. Downloads, however, decreased from about 39K at the beginning of April to approximately 21K by the end of June.

Messenger, another app from Meta Platforms, Inc., showed a steady decline in active users from 14M to around 13.6M. Weekly downloads varied between 14K and 39K, with no recorded revenue for the period.

Discord - Talk, Play, Hang Out displayed a stable revenue stream with weekly earnings ranging from $29K to $49K. Downloads remained consistent, fluctuating between 13K and 20K. Active users saw minor fluctuations, maintaining a steady average of around 1.4M.
